I received this Beacon of Hope clock a full year ago as a gift. It is a full 12″ tall, as well as very handsome and quality made. The glass globe is thick and would not be easily broken, and the base is made of a quality ceramic. This is basically what is usually referred to as an anniversary clock. The pendulum with its bulbs at the bottom rotate back and forth with the running of the clock, and its operated by three AAA batteries in the bottom. Although it is not mentioned in the description, this is a chiming clock. It chimes clearly and distinctly every hour on the hour, and a switch at the bottom of the base can defeat the chime if you are one to believe that silence is golden. I do not use this clock on a mantle, but as a centerpiece for a table where I have many lighthouse sculptures. It sparkles beautifully in the sunlight and I have received many compliments on it.

It’s my opinion that if this clock did not have the Thomas Kinkade title attached to it, it would not be anywhere near as highly priced. However in all fairness the lighthouse print on the face is very nicely done, as well as vibrant in its colors, and I consider it well worth the price. The first set of batteries that I installed in it lasted a full 8 months. A duration that was rather surprising to me considering that the pendulum operates back and forth constantly as well as chimes hourly. Whether you have a room with a lighthouse display of your own, or are a Thomas Kinkade fan that enjoys collecting any of his work or signature items, I feel confidant in recommending this clock either for yourself, or as a gift. It is both very rich and attractive and keeps excellent time as well…
